The brainers

Anatole Khelif – Mathematician

Anatole Khélif is a senior lecturer and researcher in mathematical logic. He is an alumnus of the Ecole Normale Supérieure, rue d’Ulm. For several years now, he has been leading a seminar on categorical logic. For him, logic is a very schematic attempt to describe how our brains work.

This brainer takes part in round-table discussions, offers improvisation sessions and the following solo talks:

Metatemps

What if our 14-billion-year-old Universe had only been created in a second? How do we solve the “grandfather” paradox? What is the quantum Zeno paradox? Did the universe have a beginning? And if so, what was there before? We propose the concept of “Metatemps” as a way of resolving these paradoxes, using literary and psychological examples. We then link this concept to Conway's “surreal numbers”. Finally, we raise the question of the possibility of a “Metatemps” in physics.
